Grating Effects on Sidelobe Suppression in Mim Plasmonic Filters

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper a procedure for sidelobe suppression in the frequency response of a MIM (metal-insulator-metal) plasmonic filter is presented. Using the calculated effective refractive index for various values of the width of dielectric core and Bragg condition, the structural profile of primary filter is obtained. The frequency response for the transmission coefficient of the MIM plasmonic filter is derived by TRC-LOD-FDTD method. The variation in the frequency response of the filter due to changes in … Show more

“…Waveguide-based plasmonic structures utilizing surface plasmon polariton (SPP) are promising for their capability of high subwavelength scale confinement and low propagation loss [16,17], which could lead to a high-speed, miniaturized and integrated electrooptical technology. Several plasmonic waveguiding structures have been explored, such as metallic nanoparticles [18,19], metallic strips or nanowires [20,21], V-grooves [22], and slot waveguides [23].…”

“…The solution generated by the GA after 200 generations of evolution process is exhibited (see Figure 3), which shows the shape of the unit describing the basic periodicity cell. Considering not to yield the grating lobe [15,16] in the desired band, the optimum dimension of the unit cell is fixed at L = 660 µm. In addition, the thickness of the SiO 2 substrate is chosen at 368 µm.…”

“…Many papers based on the Rayleigh-Sommerfeld diffraction integral or on the Fresnel diffraction integral analyze the focusing properties of inplane FZPs [7][8][9][10]. Some studies show that the deeply-etched onedimensional (1-D) gratings have many excellent properties such as high diffraction efficiency [11,12] and suppressing the sidelobes in the frequency response of a metal-insulator-metal plasmonic filter [13]. The aim of this paper is to analyze the diffraction properties of deeplyetched 2D circular Fresnel zone plates.…”
