UN Convention on Climate Change 2015 mandates reducing carbon footprint to reduce global warming. Considering environmental concerns, Electric Vehicles (EVs) spearhead the move towards green mobility. Niti Aayog (Indian Government) has envisaged an “EV only” scenario by 2030. Two wheelers dominate the Indian automobile industry with almost 80% market share. With the transportation sector accounting for 70% of world’s fossil fuels use, the need for a sustainable supply chain which addresses environment, economy and societal issues, has, of late, aroused interest in the business academic community and industries. Sustainability in business decision-making promotes efficiency, controls expenditure, enhances customer delight, increases sales and market share, optimises risk management strategy, and promotes profitability. This study intends to develop a conceptual framework after examining research gaps in sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) and allied topics like sustainability, green supply chain management, and vendor partnerships through collaborative efforts. Even the UN vide Goal 9 of sustainable goals pertaining to industry, highlights the importance of this framework.

The automotive industry is one of the main manufacturing industries and has a significant effect on the environment and society. SSCM procedures are specific practices that are implemented into the conventional supply chain and assist an industry transition to an SSC. Firms have a hard time finding the most beneficial practices and understanding how they interact. Unfortunately, no prior research has looked at how these practices interact in the car business, especially from an Indian viewpoint. The goal of this research is to gain a better knowledge of the interconnected influences across SSCM processes, with a focus on the automobile industry. Our study includes perspectives from a variety of stakeholders, including management, societal, environmental, and government organizations. Researchers offer a conceptual model for evaluating automobile industry SSCM practices in the rising Indian economy, based on the Validation Laboratory and Decision Making Trial technique. The researcher discovered interdependencies and the prevalence of the highlighted practices through a survey questionnaire of the above stakeholders. The cause units and effect groups of the practices are depicted in a prominent causal connection diagram. Particular stakeholder viewpoints and composite stakeholder viewpoints are compared and contrasted. According to the findings, the most important strategies for establishing SSCM are performance management to conservation and applying the triple bottom line method in strategic decision making. This research lays a platform for industrial executives to comprehend the interplay between practices, increasing the likelihood of effective SSCM implementation in the automobile industry.

PurposeThis study aims to identify and recognize the interrelationship between green supply chain practices (GSCPs) and analyze the effect of GSCPs on green supply chain management (GSCM) implementation on the premise of driving and dependence power of GSCPs.Design/methodology/approachThis research identifies twenty GSCPs with the consultation of the team of industry practitioners and academicians. Interpretative structural modelling (ISM) is applied to develop the relationship between GSCPs, which gives the direct and indirect effects of each GSCPs. The result obtained from ISM is used as an input for Fuzzy matriced impacts croises multiplication appliquee a un classement (Fuzzy MICMAC) to identify the driving and dependence power of GSCPs.FindingsAn integrated model has been established using ISM and the Fuzzy MICMAC method to categorize the GSCPs. It reveals the direct and indirect effect of each GSCPs on the execution of GSCM. The result shows that driver GSCPs have deliberate importance because of their driving power and dependent GSCPs are more performance-oriented.Research limitations/implicationsISM model and fuzzy MICMAC analysis depends on the judgment of the professional's team from a single industry. These opinions may be subjective judgments of the experts and any biasing may influence the final result.Practical implicationsThis study gives significant guidance to industry practitioners and academicians. Industry practitioners need to concentrate on these most significant GSCPs for the successful implementation of GSCM. They must also plan for the growth of GSCM by concentrating on all GSCPs. On the other side, academicians may be motivated to categorize other issues which are essential for GSCPs.Originality/valueIn this research, an effort has been made to identify the significant GSCPs for GSCM implementation on a single platform. A huge literature is available on GSCPs, but none of the researchers paid attention to model these GSCPs using ISM and fuzzy MICMAC.
