“…Another objective of the study was the determination of the relative importance of these evaluation criteria. There are many methods such as the AHP, ANP, BWM (Kusi-Sarpong et al, 2016a, 2016bBadri Ahmadi et al, 2017) available to achieve this goal. However, Shannon entropy was chosen over other tools because the number of criteria (16 in this case) and we were unable to use any pairwise comparison-based method engrained with difficulties in computing inconsistencies.…”

“…They could show that external environmental factors (including customer pressures, regulatory pressures, government supports, and environmental uncertainty) are the most important in adopting green practices. In another study, Kusi-Sarpong et al [31] have introduced a comprehensive framework for SSCM implementation in Ghana's gold mining industry. This framework is made of six constructs including the green information technology and systems, strategic supplier partnership, operations and logistics integration, internal environmental management, eco-innovative and end-of-life.…”

“…Based on the American Reverse Logistics Executive Council, reverse logistics is defined as "The process of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, cost effective flow of raw materials, in-process inventory, finished goods and related information from the point of consumption to the point of origin for the purpose of recapturing value or proper disposal" (Govindan & Soleimani, 2017). As discussed before, mining activities such as maintenance causes significant waste and are held within the mines which may pose serious health, safety and environmental danger to the employees (Sarpong et al, 2016). Implementing reverse logistics initiatives may benefit the mines in many ways including recaptured value by selling older assets to second hand markets and achieving proper disposal to avoid environmental issues through materials exchange programs with manufactures (Atkinson, 2002).…”
