Abstract:<p>Biogeochemical processes and microbial community structure were investigated in sediment cores from three pockmarks in Hanko, Finland, in the northern Baltic Sea, and compared to groundwater and seawater measurements. Three studied pockmarks varied with the rate of submarine groundwater discharge (SGD). Based on e.g., chloride and DIC concentrations from sediment porewaters, pockmark D had the strongest groundwater influence, while in pockmark E SGD had ceased and therefore this pockmark resem… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
