Groundwater Occurrence Prediction using Regressions on Morphometric Variables in Upstream Progo Watershed, Yogyakarta

Abstract: Geomorphological mapping has been done at the upstream part of Progo Drainage Area by measuring some geomorphological indexes and level of shallow groundwater level at 196 stations, to investigate connections between geomorphological characteristics and groundwater system in the area. These indexes are valley floorheight ratio (V f), valley cross section (V ratio o rV r), stream gradient index (S L), and drainage density (Dd). Based on the linear regression analysis, the four indexes show none to very weak cor… Show more

“…According to the Geological Agency (2011), this research area is included in the "non-groundwater basin or non-potential groundwater basin." Listyani & Budiadi (2018) have also examined some of these basins and their relation to shallow groundwater hydrogeology. Geomorphologically, the research area is included in the dome and hills zone in the central depression, especially the Kulon Progo Dome.…”

“…The river in study area may develop to be other genetic type, depends on tectonics and exogenic processes. All of them should control water resource in West Progo Hills, especially to shallow groundwater, and may be predicted from morphology [15].…”
