Haem Proteins

Abstract: Haem is used by a wide variety of proteins to carry out dozens of functions and catalyse numerous reactions. The polypeptide chains encasing the haem functional group control the accessibility, reactivity and reduction potential of the haem and, in doing so, alter the chemistry of the haem prosthetic group.
