“…In this work, a series of half‐sandwich Ru II complexes were obtained in accordance with the methods of literature (Scheme ) . The N^N chelating ligands L1 and L2 were prepared by Suzuki coupling reaction (4‐bromobipyridine and the corresponding TPA boric acids), L3 and L4 were obtained by Wittig reaction (4′‐methyl‐(2,2′‐bipyridine)‐4‐carbaldehyde and the corresponding Wittig reagents).…”

“…The study showed that TPA‐appended phenanthroline chelating ligand (N^N) applied to cycloiridium complex and acted as an effective phototherapy drug towards HeLa cells, which can effectively induce the production of singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) after 730 nm laser irradiation and lead to apoptosis . Our group also reported a series of metal iridium complexes with TPA‐substituted dipyridine frameworks, which provides additional stability for complexes, and even adjust the lipid solubility, so as to regulate the anticancer activity . The excellent characteristics of TPA‐appended metal iridium complexes stimulate us to investigate the applications of other transition‐metal complexes .…”

“…The anticancer activity of a simple half-sandwich Ir III complex increases nearly 10 times when the bipyridine chelating ligand (N ∧ N) is replaced by a phenyl pyridine ligand (C ∧ N) (Liu and Sadler, 2014). The IC 50 value (the concentration at which the growth of 50% of the cells is inhibited) of Ir III complex can be reduced by nearly 100 times by controlling the binding mode of bipyridine chelate ligand substituents and the number of triphenylamine (TPA) units (He et al, 2019).…”
