HAUS Augmin-Like Complex Subunit 1 Influences Tumour Microenvironment and Prognostic Outcomes in Glioma

Abstract: Background. The expression of HAUS Augmin-like complex subunit 1 (HAUS1), a protein-coding gene, is low in normal samples among various cancers with pan-cancer analysis. The depletion of HAUS1 in cells decreases the G2/M cell compartment and induces apoptosis. However, the detailed expression pattern of HAUS1 and its correlation with immune infiltration in glioma (LGG and GBM) (LGG: low-grade glioma; GBM: glioblastoma) remain unknown. Therefore, in this study, we examined the role and prognostic value of HAUS1… Show more

“…Although many clinical studies have confirmed that multitargeted drugs and immunotherapy can prolong the overall survival (OS) and improve the objective response rate (ORR) of LUAD patients [3][4][5], the rapid progression of the disease due to multi-drug resistance is currently very difficult. Few targeted treatment options [6][7][8][9]. With the indepth research in many aspects [10,11], it is beneficial to discover small molecule inhibitors.…”

“…HAUS1 is significant for the spindle assembly as the first subunit of the Human Augmin Complex and some researchers have found that HAUS1 and HAUS6 are similar, interact with NEDD1, target spindle microtubules 33 , participate in forming cellular spindle filaments, cell mitosis, and regulating cell cycles 34 . Current evidence suggested that HAUS1 was closely associated with tumor formation and might contribute to tumor progression 35 . Analysis of TCGA, GTEx, GEO and HPA databases showed that HAUS1 was significantly highly expressed in HCC, which was associated with a worse prognosis and reduced survival among patients.…”

“…Meanwhile, another phenomenon called checkpoint adaptation might happen. Adaptation of the checkpoint allowed cells to withdraw from mitosis without spindle formation or chromosome segregation (Fujita et al, 2016; Yao et al, 2022). The cells that exited mitosis due to the checkpoint adaptation might re‐enter S phase through a process named endoreduplication, which would produce polyploid cells.…”
