“…Although there are games focusing on processing grief from deaths like in That Dragon, Cancer (2016) [3], there are no games which centre on eco-grief which is described as a "slow and cumulative grief without end -unlike a human death." [8] Previous HCI literature supports using game mediums in climate science dissemination with stakeholder collaboration and storytelling such as in World without Oil (2007) and Future Coast (2014) [5], but Illuminate takes storytelling a step further to link concerns to specific actions which can be done in the present for change.
