Abstracts Introduction Emphasizing the global commitment to universal health coverage, this research addresses geographical variations and challenges faced by young females across low and lower-middle-income countries. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the factors that influence the decision-making of young females when it comes to seeking healthcare services in low or lower-middle-income countries. Methodology We examined healthcare usage among female youth across eight countries. We used data from the DHS and employed regression and Chi2 tests for our analysis. Our focus was on females aged 15 to 24 and their visits to healthcare facilities. To ensure the validity of our findings, we used weighted sampling to represent the population. Results We had a total sample of 51,298 female youth groups between the ages of 15 and 24 who participated in our study. When it comes to the demographics of the participants, most of those in the 15-19 age group were from Burkina Faso (54.26%), while most of those in the 20-24 age group were from Ghana (50.19%). The impact of education varied across countries; primary education led to increased healthcare utilization in Kenya, Tanzania, and Cambodia, but unexpected trends were observed in Burkina Faso. Conclusions Education significantly influences healthcare utilization, both primary and secondary education positively impacting this. Rural residents face challenges accessing timely healthcare. Geographical challenges, like diseases and limited accessibility, contribute to varied healthcare usage in Kenya and the Philippines. Addressing infrastructure issues is critical, emphasizing education and promoting transparency to enhance healthcare equity.

Background: This study aimed to generate a pooled national estimate on dental health care services utilization by the adult population in India from any public or private facility in an effort to highlight the demand and usage for oral health care. Methods: In this meta-analysis, PubMed, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, and Google Scholar were searched using a search strategy that combined MeSH headings and keywords (e.g., "Oral Health", "Dental Health Services", utilization, India, etc.) for articles on dental utilization among Indian adults, published between January 2011 and June 2022. Study quality was assessed using the NIH Quality assessment tool, and a random-effects inverse-variance method was used for pulling utilization proportions. Meta-regression and sub-group analyses were conducted to identify the sources of heterogeneity. Heterogeneity is reported as I2 . To examine publication bias, the funnel plot, egger’s test, and trim-and-fill analysis were performed. Results: From 4012 identified articles, 21 were eligible for inclusion. The pooled dental care utilization amongst Indian adults were found to be 23.96% (confidence interval [CI]: 16.81%– 31.11%, P<0.001, I2=98.93%), and the highest estimate was in South Zone (30.02%, CI: 19.14–40.90, P<0.01, I2=98.63%). Visual inspection of the funnel plot revealed the presence of publication bias (egger’s P value 0.02). A mild decrease in utilization estimate was noted through trim and fill analysis (adjusted estimate 17.65%, CI: 8.97–26.33, P=0.03). No significant subgroup effect was found for the variables study zone and conduction years (P value: 0.09 & 0.34 respectively). Conclusion: Future studies should be undertaken to focus on the demand and supply of oral health care services since an evidential gap has been identified due to the uneven distribution of studies available from various regions of India. The heterogeneity can be attributed to the diverse socioeconomic, literacy, and inherent health system performance status.

Background The poor and low-income earners used remittances to access healthcare services because most of them are not covered by private or government health insurance schemes.The money sent by migrant workers from abroad to their family members, relatives and friends serves as social protection, especially in developing countries where there are no standardised social protection programmes. Objective This review assesses the impact of remittances on healthcare utilisation and expenditure in developing countries. Methods A systematic search for relevant literature was conducted online for studies published between 2002 and 2018. Results The inclusion criteria of the study were met by 7 out of the 135 studies searched electronically. The studies conducted in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America, found that remittances contributed toincreased healthcare access, utilisation and expenditures. However, the degrees of these impacts were limited among the studies except in Armenia, where remittances significantly increased healthcare utilisation. Conclusion Although remittances can not serve as an alternative to formal healthcare insurance schemes, they can serve as a short-term measure in healthcare utilisation in developing countries. It is the responsibility of governments at all levels to formulate health policies that will embrace universal healthcare coverage for all citizens.
