Helical Induction, Chiroptical Properties, and Quantitative Prediction of the Dissymmetry Factor on the Circularly Polarized Phosphorescence of Iminopyrrolyl Platinum(II) Complexes

Abstract: Chiral transition metal complexes have attracted significant attention for the development of optoelectrical materials, such as circularly polarized phosphorescence (CPP)-emitting devices. In this paper, we report the helicity induction of d-π-conjugated platinum(II) complexes by the point chirality on 1,2-diaminocyclohexane and their CPP properties. The obtained C2-helical complexes exhibited excellent chiroptical properties with high dissymmetry factors (circular dichroism: g abs = 1.2 × 10 −2 , CPP: g phos … Show more

“…The phosphorescence spectra showed the identical spectral shape as CPL and total emission spectra both in solution and in the liquid state (Figure S6). Considering that micro‐order emission lifetime and oxygen quenching was observed in the same condition, complex 1 exhibits CPP in both dilute solution and solvent free supercooled liquid state [11f,j] . The CPL spectra of ( S,S )‐ and ( R , R )‐ 1 exhibit mirror‐image signals around 520 nm in CH 2 Cl 2 solution (Figure 4a upper plot), which correspond to the emission band observed in their total emission spectra obtained under the same conditions (Figure 4a lower plots).…”

“…Recently, Morisaki et al synthesized helical D–π-conjugation iminepyrrole Pt( ii ) complexes by using the point chirality of 1,2-cyclohexanediamine as a chiral source and studied their CPP properties. 199 The resulting C2-helix MCs exhibited striking chiroptical properties with high g (Fig. 6b).…”

“…The k nr value of 1aPt was one-third that of Pt(ppy)(acac) (3.3 Â 10 5 s À1 ), indicating that the heterotriptycene framework decreases non-radiative decay owing to the rigidification of the triplet excited state. 14 As shown in Fig. 4(B), mirror-image CPP spectra were obtained for (9S,10R)and (9R,10S)-1aPt.…”
