Heralded single photon source at 1550 nm from pulsed parametric down conversion

Abstract: Heralding of single photon at 1550 nm from pump pulsed non degenerate spontaneous parametric downconversion is demonstrated. P(1) and P(2) of our source are 0.1871 and 2.4 µ 10 -3 respectively. Triggering of our source is 2.16 µ 10 5 trigger.s -1 . This source may be used in QKD system.

“…Such a single photon source will be an alternative candidate to the reported heralding single photon sources with the efficiencies of 20 to 30 %. 29,30 Another future target will be optical quantum computation, where the loss threshold of 66 % has been suggested for a certain condition. 31 Efficient photon collection of single nanoemitters itself is possible also by using high-NA objectives such as solid immersion lenses (SILs).…”

“…A heralded single photon source in bulk crystal with a pulsed pump was also demonstrated in [70]. Here the heralded photons were at 1550 nm, more suited for fiberbased QKD applications, while the heralding photons were in the visible.…”

“…For QKD at 1550 nm, we realized a source using pulsed non degenerate type I SPDC (see reference [16] for more details). A femtosecond pump (150 fs) at 390 nm is focused inside a 5 mm BBO crystal which is cut to give a photon pair with signal photon at 521 nm and idler photon at 1550 nm.…”

“…A HSPS using non-degenerate parametric downconversion with femto-second laser pumping was used in our experiment [16]. The photon source was coupled to a one-way QKD system realized with two unbalanced Mach-Zehnder interferometers and phase modulators.…”
