Heterodyne spectrometer sensitivity limit for quantum networking
Joseph C. Chapman,

Abstract:Optical heterodyne detection-based spectrometers are attractive due to their relatively simple construction and ultra-high resolution. Here we demonstrate a proof-ofprinciple heterodyne spectrometer which has picometer resolution and quantum-limited sensitivity. Moreover, we report a generalized quantum limit of detecting broadband multi-mode light using heterodyne detection, which provides a sensitivity limit on a heterodyne detection-based optical spectrometer. We then compare this sensitivity limit to sever… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
