Hiding or sharing? Technology upgrade, technology spillover and information asymmetry

Abstract: One giant manufacturer (M1) upgrades a common supplier's production technology through investments, while the supplier (it), holding the technology spillover information privately, may spill the upgraded technology over to a rival manufacturer (M2). This study examines whether the supplier should share the information of technology spillover with M1. We first find technology spillover hurts not only M1 but also the supplier and M2, when the production cost is high and the investment cost is low at a high level… Show more

“…This can further strengthen the impact of land-resource supply on the mismatch of labor resources. In addition, under the market environment of high-tech popularization, regions with low production efficiency are more likely to improve the productivity of their local enterprises through the technology spillover effect [29,30]. This will undoubtedly affect the allocation of labor resources.…”

“…Even high-tech or artificial intelligence industries are no exception. For instance, information asymmetry affects whether the supplier should share or hide the technology spillover information to create a `win-win-win' outcome for the three players (Liu et al 2022). As to the artificial intelligence (AI), information asymmetry is identified as an essential source of complementarity potential, and humans have access to different contextual information in many realworld situations (Hemmer et al 2022).…”

“…Another view is that the increase of the digital economy will reduce the URIG. Relevant scholars have put forward that digital economic resources are shared and spill over (Liu et al, 2022). The employment market in the urban and rural fringe areas has a strong attraction for the rural labor force.…”
