Higgs bbbar decay at NNLO and beyond : the uncertainties of QCD predictions

Abstract: The importance of detailed studies of theoretical QCD predictions for the decay width of the Standard Model Higgs boson into bottom quarks, in the case when M H ≤ 2M W , is emphasized. The effects of higher order perturbative QCD corrections up to order α 4 s -terms are considered. The resummation of the π 2 terms resulting from analytical continuation, typical of Minkowskian quantities, is undertaken for the Γ(H → bb) decay width. The uncertainties in the calculation of this decay width are analyzed.

“…( 4) the magnitude of the scale µ 2 = σ-without performing any expansion. CIPT is currently considered to be the most preferable technique to account for the running of perturbative quantities in a number of processes, including the τ -decay [35,39], the R e + e −ratio [33,34], and the width of the Higgs-boson decay H→ b b [40]. The integration of the running couplings along the contour Γ 2 is performed numerically [35], but for the one-loop running the result for R CIPT can be obtained also analytically and is found to coincide with expression (6), as expected (see Appendix A).…”

“…Note, that in the process of analysing the uncertainties of QCD predictions for Γ(H 0 → bb), preformed in the work of Ref. [28], we used slightly lower estimate, namely -1892. The difference is explained in part by smaller number of significant digits taken into account in the values of coefficients, which enter in the procedure of corresponding estimates.…”

“…4, the predictions can be sensitive to the choice of the quark mass ratio m 1 /(m 1 + m 2 ). However, we do not focus on these details in the current study, as we think that the problem of mass choice deserves a separate consideration (see for example [40,41], where the problem of choice of the b quark mass was studied in details). Our estimates of the contributions of such processes to the decay width show that they are two orders of magnitude smaller than the mechanism studied in our work.…”
