“…9 Within this area, the field of micro-and nanoreactors, which consists in the fabrication of materials with defined patterned areas containing compounds with catalytic activity, is getting more and more attention. 10 Microreactors have allowed for integrating the exact conditions of a conventional reactor in the macroscale but in a reduced volume. Advantages include less consumption of material, improved contact between the diverse reactants and increased control of heat and mass transfer, which leads to an increase of the conversion.…”

“…One of the most interesting microbioreactor techniques is the investigation of behavior and cell growth in different concentration gradient profiles. Differently, conventional assays such as bench scale bioreactors and shaking flasks depend on stepwise dilution of a concentrated nutrient solution to identify the most appropriate conditions . In microbioreactors with concentration gradient generators, it is possible to investigate cells in various profiles of induction factors and to determine in a single assay the ideal growth condition .…”

“…Differently, conventional assays such as bench scale bioreactors and shaking flasks depend on stepwise dilution of a concentrated nutrient solution to identify the most appropriate conditions. 178 In microbioreactors with concentration gradient generators, it is possible to investigate cells in various profiles of induction factors 84,112 and to determine in a single assay the ideal growth condition. 68 In addition, it allows for experimental performances in parallel, or in multiple conditions, for the same or different strains in single experiment, as presented by Hansen et al (2015).…”
