“…As individuals with negotiable fates would maintain their efforts, we speculated that grit (both PE and CI) would be positively associated with negotiable fates. This speculation could be supported by the previous empirical findings regarding hope, with a positive affect (Hill et al, 2014; Raphiphatthana & Jose, 2021) and with goal commitment (Tang et al, 2019), and would be more prevalent when in a social-cultural context where individuals face many constraints in pursuing their goals and daily lives (Au et al, 2012; Chaturvedi et al, 2009). H2a: Grit is positively associated with a negotiable fate H2b: Grit-PE is positively associated with a negotiable fate H2c: Grit-CI is positively associated with a negotiable fate Besides, negotiable fate is hypothesized to be positively associated with student engagement.…”

“…Additionally, previous research is insufficient in terms of recognising the need, importance and implementation for fostering grit among working professionals by inculcating transpersonal factors such as metacognition, flow, empathy and optimism. Current knowledge on predictors has found hope and low rumination as the antecedents of grit (Raphiphatthana and Jose, 2021) which, although significantly helps in advancing research on constructs of positive psychology in relation to grit, but is limited in providing a sustainable framework for developing and generating grit, especially at workplaces. Olckers and Koekemoer (2021) explored the underlying mechanisms which can contribute to career success and found psychological ownership as the possible construct influencing performance through grit and the perception of career success.…”
