High performance of magnetically separable and recyclable photocatalyst of green-synthesized CoFe2O4/TiO2 nanocomposites for degradation of methylene blue

Abstract: In this study, combination of ferromagnetic and semiconductor CoFe2O4/TiO2 nanocomposites was synthesised using a green synthesis method with Moringa oleifera leaf extract to easily obtain a magnetically separated nanomaterial exhibiting high photocatalytic activity. Nanocomposites with different CoFe2O4/TiO2 molar ratios were identified using x-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy, X-ray fluorescence, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, UV–visible spectroscopy, and vibration sample mag… Show more

“…The absorption groups of Zn-O and Fe-O that occur in the range of numbers from 586 to 358 cm -1 are indicated by the presence of octahedral and tetrahedral M-O absorption. In addition, a wavelength of 2383 cm -1 was detected as a C-H functional group [1,23,24]. This indicates that the encapsulation of NiZnFe2O4 with silica has been successful.…”

“…MTT cytotoxicity assay was performed on the U87 cell lines (in a human primary glioblastoma cell line with epithelial morphology) and no cytotoxicity effect was observed [60]. Additionally, Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice) roots [61], C. microphylla fruit extract [37], tamarind extract [62,63], agar-agar from red seaweed (Rhodophyta) [64], Azadirachta indica leaves extract [65], Chenopodium album leaf extract [66], Coriandrum sativum extracts [67], verjuice extract [68], Moringa oleifera leaf extract [69], ginger root extract/Elettaria cardamomum seed extract [70], and baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) [71] were successfully used for green synthesis of cobalt ferrite and related compositions.…”
