High-Performance Organic Light-Emitting Diode with Substitutionally Boron-Doped Graphene Anode

Abstract: The hole-injection barrier between the anode and the hole-injection layer (HIL) is of critical importance to determine the device performance of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Here, we report on a record-high external quantum efficiency (EQE) (24.6% in green phosphorescence) of OLEDs fabricated on both rigid and flexible substrates, with the performance enhanced by the use of nearly defect-free and high-mobility boron-doped graphene as an effective anode and hexaazatriphenylene hexacarbonitrile as a ne… Show more

“…Co-doping in carbon lattice with two foreign atoms is considered as an increasingly popular way to optimize the catalytic activity for it can create a synergistic effect to promote the electrocatalytic activity. Various doping modes, especially N associated with other heteroatoms like NÀS, [48] NÀO, [49] NÀB, [50] NÀP [51] are widely reported. “…Despitet he recent progress in the field, comprehensive insight into key structure-property relationships of B-PAHs is still lacking, because the required access to entire series of system-atically modulatable B-PAH derivatives still imposes af ormidable challenge to the synthetic chemist. [4][5][6] Herein, we report an array of halogenated 9,10-dihydro-9,10-diboraanthracenes (DBAs; Figure 1), which differ in the nature (i.e., 1/5, 2/3/6, 4/7)o rt he numbersa nd positions of their halogen substituents( i.e., [5][6][7][8][9][10]. In all cases, compound I serves as the benchmark for comparison purposes.…”

“…Conjugated polymers are characterized by a backbone chain of alternating double‐ and single‐bonds. Their overlapping p‐orbitals create a system of delocalized π‐electrons, which can result in widely applied in solar cell, mobile communications, organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs), and organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs) . Particularly, the specific luminescence of conjugated polymers such as high color purity, remarkable photoluminescence (PL) efficiency, and long life time which make these materials attach much more attention.…”
