“…In this work, the presence of Cu 2+ ion and Cu + ion in the hybrid nanoflowers was confirmed by the XPS spectrum, and the ratio between Cu 2+ ion to Cu + ion is 1:0.374 ( Figure S2 in Supplementary Information). According to the published reports, several peroxidase mimics generate hydroxyl radical by decomposing H 2 O 2 to accomplish the conversion of TMB to TMB radical cation (oxidized TMB) relying on its peroxidase-like activity (Formula (3)) [ 40 , 41 , 55 ]. Therefore, the amino acid incorporated nanoflowers with intrinsic peroxidase-like activity were chosen as a peroxidase mimic to achieve the oxidation of TMB in this experiment.…”

“…Therefore, numerous efforts have been devoted to solving these problems by developing novel enzyme mimics to replace the natural enzyme [ 36 ]. To our knowledge, several nanostructures, such as gold nanoclusters, Co 3 O 4 nanoparticles, gold nanoparticles, FeS 2 nanoparticles, or Si doped CoO nanorods possessing instinct peroxidase-like activity were fabricated to detect GSH owing to its greater resistance to adverse surroundings and cost-effectiveness [ 37 , 38 , 39 , 40 , 41 ]. The oxidation of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) catalyzed by the mimetic peroxidases can be suppressed by GSH, accompanied by a sharp decrease of the absorbance at 652 nm.…”

“…This peroxidase-like activity of mimetic enzymes has been used to colorimetrically detect various bio-related substances such as glucose, 8 hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), 9 cysteine 10 and glutathione. 11 However, many mimetic enzymes lack stability and biocompatibility in solution, which restrict their accurate detection of bio-related substances in actual tests. 8 The glucose concentration is closely related to our health and can be detected by using Pd nanoparticles (Pd NPs) based on the colorimetric method.…”

“…In particular, based on the improvement of enzyme catalytic activity, many studies have been carried out to achieve the purpose of colorimetric detection (Zhang et al, 2018 ; Li et al, 2019 ). Besides, most studies have focused on the design of nanozymes with different activities for colorimetric sensing of biothiols (Xiong et al, 2015 ; Song et al, 2020 ), dopamine (Wang et al, 2019b ), glutathione reductase (Zhang et al, 2019 ), and acid phosphatase (Lin et al, 2020 ). These sensors generally achieve the goal of detection by using reduced substances to interfere with the oxidation of chromogenic substrates or to reduce oxTMB.…”
