Abstract:The technology of manufacturing aluminum alloy workpieces using additive friction stir deposition (AFS‐D) has been thoroughly investigated. The ambiguous influence of deformation processing modes on the material density was found. Examination of the microstructure in the central zone of the specimens reveals the absence of microdefects typically associated with workpieces obtained through casting or powder metallurgy methods.
