Abstract:The objective of this study is to design, analyze, and simulate a novel and ultrafast 1 × 2 photonic decoder. The device is composed of two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystals where silicon rods are placed in air. It includes two beam splitters and a phase shifter, which are implemented using point defects. Additionally, line defects are integrated into the device to steer the light wave without causing dissipation.
