“…We should note that high‐ T c superconductors, such as the cuprates, have not been successfully implemented as SNSPDs, perhaps the high energy gap is too large to allow single‐photon detection. Yet, nanowires made of high‐ T c superconductors have already been implemented as sensitive photon detectors (not single photons) . Recently, by looking at the dark counts of YBCO nanowires, Ejrnaes et al .…”

“…The current-voltage characteristic of the nanobridges presents a sharp voltage switch, of the order of a few millivolts, from the superconducting state to the resistive state, that we interpret in terms of hot spot formation [22]. This feature, not found in state-of-the-art YBCO nanobridges [23,24], is due to the different thermal conductivity between the two cuprate families and the different thermal boundary resistance between the films and the substrate, making the electron-doped compounds extremely attractive materials to engineer nanowire-based single photon detectors.…”

“…They demonstrated the effect of bolometric and photoabsorption‐induced transitions using subgap and over‐the‐gap THz radiation. Using pulsed laser deposition technique, Arpaia et al deposited a series of 50 nm thick YBCO layers. Nanostripes of YBCO on LAO substrates with widths varying in the range of 90–500 nm and lengths increasing up to 10 µm proportionally to the width were realized (Figure B,C).…”
