Highly efficient TADF OLEDs with low efficiency roll-off based on novel acridine–carbazole hybrid donor-substituted pyrimidine derivatives

Abstract: Dimethyl acridine (Ac) and carbazole (Cz) donors are fused to produce acridine–carbazole hybrid donors 12AcCz (8,8-dimethyl-5-phenyl-8,13-dihydro-5H-indolo[2,3-c]acridine) and 23AcCz (13,13-dimethyl-7-phenyl-7,13-dihydro-5H-indolo[3,2-b]acridine).

“…Benefiting from these small overlaps of FMOs, small Δ E ST values were predicted for all three emitters: 0.29 eV for BFDMAc‐PhNAI, 0.22 eV for BTDPAc‐PhNAI, and 0.16 eV for BTDMAc‐PhNAI. Compared with predicted data of previously reported high‐efficiency TADF emitters with similar structures, [19, 27] the Δ E ST values of the three emitters show little variance. Therefore, all three emitters are predicted to have pronounced TADF characteristics, since efficient reverse intersystem crossing (RISC) processes can be established.…”

“…Polymers containing similar emitting units with NAI as an acceptor were applied in ratiometric temperature sensing [30] . Our group also reported NAI‐based TADF emitters with high horizontal orientation, [31] different emission spectra, [19] and time‐resolved luminescence imaging ability [32] . All of this research proved the advantages of NAI if employed as the acceptor unit of TADF emitters.…”

“…[18][19][20][21][22] Many carbazole derivatives have been studied because of their good electron-donor character,f acile chemical modification, and thermal stability. [23][24][25][26] TADF devicep erformances using carbazole-derived electron-donor moieties are showni nT able S1. Amongt he many carbazole-derived donors, the benzofurocarbazole moiety has proved to be effective as a donori nT ADF materials,a si tm oderates the donorc haracter of the carbazole moiety.…”

“…TADF emitters are composed of electron donor and acceptor moieties, and one of the most common donor moieties is carbazole . Many carbazole derivatives have been studied because of their good electron‐donor character, facile chemical modification, and thermal stability . TADF device performances using carbazole‐derived electron‐donor moieties are shown in Table S1.…”
