“…Localization of alkaline phosphatase in kidney (Yamamoto and Yasuda, 1973b), sorbitol dehydrogenase in rat liver (Chida et al, 1976) and in the reproductive organs (Chida et al, 1982) and hyaluronidase in the testes (Sakai et al, 1979) have been reported. Pancreatic lipase was found to be confined in the shell of s137 the granules, but amylase, trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen were diffused in the granules when viewed by a double staining method using ultrathin frozen sectioning (Ono, 1980;Ono et al, 1980). Glutathione peroxidase was found in the cytosol of liver cells in the peripheral zone of the lobule (Yoshimura et al, 1980 ;Sato, 1983).…”

“…This antigen, SGSA, was not recognized in either the lumina of ducts of exocrine glands or in the blood vessels in the immunohistochemical study, whereas secretory proteins, such as amylase and deoxyribonuclease in the parotid gland or amylase in the pancreas, are usually seen in the ductal lumina (35,41). Secretory proteins which are relatively tightly associated with the membrane of secretory granules, for example GP-2 which was isolated from rat secretory granule membrane and lipase, have also been demonstrated in the lumina of some ducts in the rat pancreas (12,30,37). When intact secretory granules of parotid gland were incubated with trypsin in the absence of Triton X-100, SGSA was largely protected from digestion and no apparent change of mobility on SDS-PAGE was obseved, while SGSA was almost completely digested in the presence of the detergent.…”

“…4), suggesting the presence of some substances other than amylase in the marginal zone. Ono (20) immunohistochemically studied the distribution of lipase in rat pancreas, using ultra-thin frozen section of the fraction of zymogen granules and showed the presence of lipase in the marginal zone. Based on our results and those of Ono, the marginal zone may correspond to the site of lipase.…”
