Histomorphometric Comparison of New Bone Formed After Maxillary Sinus Lift With Lateral and Crestal Approaches Using Periostal Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Beta-Tricalcium Phosphate: A Controlled Clinical Trial

Abstract: : The present study investigated clinical and histomorphometric data after sinus lift procedures performed with and without mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) added to a graft. Twenty-four patients underwent maxillary sinus lift for implant placement. Twelve patients each were assigned to control (Group 1) and test (Group 2) groups. An MSC suspension was added to the graft used in patients of Group 2. Five of 12 patients in both groups underwent crestal-approach sinus lift with immediate implant placement, while se… Show more

“…Um estudo na Itália com vinte e quatro pacientes que foram submetidos à elevação do seio maxilar para a colocação do implante de cujo procedimentos foram realizados com e sem células-tronco mesenquimais (CTMs), observou-se que existe uma tendencia positiva de regeneração óssea no grupo tratado com CTM, entretanto essa diferença não foi significativa (FATALE, et al, 2022).…”

“…The result of this condition is the loosening of the implant metal and the induction of refraction for osteopenia of the bone, when the osteosynthesis materials are removed. The increase in stainless-steel alloys’ corrosion resistance is achieved by coating with a thin passive layer of Cr 2 O 3 that firmly adheres to their surface [ 16 , 17 ].…”

“…A multitude of surgical approaches have been attempted with ongoing innovation to reconstruct the resulting bony deficits of such pathologies. These include distraction osteogenesis, onlay bone grafting, interpositional block grafting, ridge splitting, alveolar sandwich osteotomy, and maxillary sinus floor elevation 5–9 . Furthermore, grafting materials of various origins continue to be explored in search of an ideal bone regenerative biomaterial to complement the aforementioned surgical techniques.…”
