HMDCS-UV: A concept study of Hybrid Monitoring, Detection and Cleaning System for Unmanned Vehicles

Abstract: Incidents of hydraulic or oil spills in the oceans/seas or ports occur with some regularity during the exploitation, production and transportation of petroleum products. Immediate, safe, effective and environmentally friendly measures must be adopted to reduce the impact of the oil spill on marine life. Due to the difficulty to detect and clean these areas, semi-autonomous vehicles can make a significant contribution by implementing a cooperative and coordinated response. The paper proposes a concept study of … Show more

“…The light blue cluster named 'UAV' reflects its combined use with motion photogrammetry to create a DOM in the Apsheron-Azerbaijan Peninsula [36] and the application of RPAS in the visual inspection of pipelines. The orange cluster called 'drone' includes studies of a hybrid system of monitoring, detection and cleaning of spills, detecting the level of contamination in maritime regions [37].…”

“…As a hub for maritime transport trade, the port may cause serious ecological damage in the event of oil spills. In the past few years, more than 3,000 traffic accidents on maritime transport ships occurred, causing more than 40,000 tons of spilled oil (Bella et al, 2021). A large number of these accidents occurred offshore or even in ports, resulting in a large number of accidents.…”

“…Several other topics regarding cooperative cleaning have been studied in literature, although not applied to dairy farms. Interesting examples, which also deploy simulation, include cooperative control of unmanned vehicles to clean oil spills in oceans (Bella et al 2021;Bhattacharya et al 2011), multi-robot systems for the area coverage problem (Hofmeister and Kronfeld 2001), cleaning of general regions by a swarm of robots (Altshhuler 2018), a bio-inspired approach for area partitioning of cooperating cleaning robots (Chatty et al 2014), deadlock avoidance of cooperating cleaning robots (Luo and Yan 2002) and cooperative cleaning of residential buildings with multiple rooms (Costa et al 2016).…”
