HNRNPA2B1, as a m6A Reader, Promotes Tumorigenesis and Metastasis of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Abstract: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modification is the most prevalent modification on eukaryotic RNA, and the m6A modification regulators were involved in the progression of various cancers. However, the functions of m6A regulators in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remain poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrated that 13 of 19 m6A-related genes in OSCC tissues are dysregulated, and HNRNPA2B1 was the most prognostically important locus of the 19 m6A regulatory genes in OSCC. Moreover, HNRNPA2B1 expression is… Show more

“…HNRNPA2B1 also acts as the m6A "reader" and very crucial in the occurrence and development of many types of cancer. Studies found that HNRNPA2B1 was the most critically prognostic locus of m6A regulatory genes in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC), silence of HNRNPA2B1 could inhibit the proliferation, migration, and invasion of OSCC by inducing epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT) (Zhu F. et al, 2021). Still other studies have found that HNRNPA2B1 can promote cell proliferation and regulate apoptosis of human colon cancer via the ERK/MAPK signaling, which indicates HNRNPA2B1 provides a potential treatment site for colon cancer (Tang et al, 2021).…”

“…Therefore, exploring whether the intervention of HNRNPA2B1 could alleviate pulmonary arterial remodeling is of great significance. According to previous studies, HNRNPA2B1, as an important mRNA processing regulator, plays an important role in lymphoma, tumors, inflammation, and other disease conditions ( Guo et al, 2020 ; Jiang et al, 2021a ; Tang et al, 2021a ; Zhu et al, 2021a ). The bioinformatics analysis conducted in the present study revealed that HNRNPA2B1 participated in the Wnt signaling pathway, muscle cell differentiation, and TGFβ signaling pathway ( Figures 3B,D ).…”

“…In a previous study, patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma who had higher HNRNPA2B1 expression had a poor prognosis [ 26 ]. Using the TIMER and GEPIA2 tools, we found that HNRNPA2B1 is present in abnormally high levels in various tumor types, such as breast cancer, OC, and LUAD.…”
