We classify Minkowski 4 solutions in type IIA supergravity, with N = 2 supersymmetry and an SU(2) R-symmetry of a certain type. Many subcases can be reduced to relatively simple PDEs, among which we recover various intersecting brane systems, and AdS d solutions, d = 5, 6, 7, and in particular the recently found general massive AdS 7 solutions. Imposing compactness of the internal six-manifold we obtain promising solutions with localized D-branes and O-planes.

“…The probe BPS equations are derived from a κ-symmetry analysis, and we will clarify an important subtlety in this analysis which arises due to the presence of non-trivial axion-dilaton backgrounds: the κ-symmetry conditions of [25][26][27] are derived with a particular gauge fixing of the local U(1) in the covariant formulation of the Type IIB supergravity field equations of [28,29]. The analysis of the supergravity BPS equations in [5][6][7]22], on the other hand, was carried out with a different gauge fixing. We study Type IIB supergravity solutions with spacetime of the form AdS 6 ×S 2 warped over a Riemann surface Σ, where Σ includes punctures around which the supergravity fields have non-trivial SL(2, R) monodromy. Solutions without monodromy have a compelling interpretation as near-horizon limits of (p, q) 5-brane webs, and the punctures have been interpreted as additional 7-branes in the web. In this work we provide further support for this interpretation and clarify several aspects of the identification of the supergravity solutions with brane webs. To further support the identification of the punctures with 7-branes, we show that punctures with infinitesimal monodromy match a probe 7-brane analysis using κ-symmetry. We then construct families of solutions with fixed 5-brane charges and punctures with finite monodromy, corresponding to fully backreacted 7-branes. We compute the sphere partition functions of the dual 5d SCFTs and use the results to discuss concrete brane web interpretations of the supergravity solutions.

We classify N = 2 Minkowski 4 solutions of IIB supergravity with an SU (2) R symmetry geometrically realized by an S 2 -foliation in the remaining six dimensions. For the various cases of the classification, we reduce the supersymmetric system of equations to PDEs. These cases often accommodate systems of intersecting branes and half-maximally supersymmetric AdS 5,6,7 solutions when they exist. As an example, we analyze the AdS 6 case in more detail, reducing the supersymmetry equations to a single cylindrical Laplace equation. We also recover an already known linear dilaton background dual to the (1, 1) Little String Theory (LST) living on NS5-branes, and we find a new Minkowski 5 linear dilaton solution from brane intersections. Finally, we also discuss some simple Minkowski 4 solutions based on compact conformal Calabi-Yau manifolds.2 This is not the only way to realise SU(2), indeed it is possible to decompose M 6 as a fibration of S 3 over some M 3 in terms of the Maurer-Cartan of SU(2). It is however unclear whether anything beyond the SU(2) × U(1) preserving squashed 3-sphere is compatible with SU(2) R . When it is compatible one can always T-dualise on the Hopf fibre and end up in a class with a round S 2 factor. Thus up to T-duality the combined results of this work and [26] cover such cases
