Home Automation System Based on Intelligent Transducer Enablers

Abstract: This paper presents a novel home automation system named HASITE (Home Automation System based on Intelligent Transducer Enablers), which has been specifically designed to identify and configure transducers easily and quickly. These features are especially useful in situations where many transducers are deployed, since their setup becomes a cumbersome task that consumes a significant amount of time and human resources. HASITE simplifies the deployment of a home automation system by using wireless networks and b… Show more

“…The term IIoT refers to the use of traditional Internet of Things (IoT) technologies [55], [56], [57], [58], [59] and in industrial environments. Therefore, it implies the massive deployment of industrial sensors, actuators and machines with remote sensing/actuation capabilities [60], [61], [62], [63] in context aware environments [64].…”

“…Smart thermostats and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) save consumers as much as 10%–15% on heating and cooling. Additionally, smart appliances for home automation systems [42] are now being researched [43]. IoT-based use cases for smart cities have been also identified, like traffic monitoring [44], surveillance [45] and pollution monitoring [46].…”

“…Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) based on the Wi-Fi standards (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n), Bluetooth, and ZigBee have been used extensively in different fields for monitoring different parameters [20], appliances [21,22], military resources [23,24,25,26], physical locations [27], equipment [28], and even musical instruments [29]. An example of an WSN-based monitoring system that makes use of IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n transceivers is presented in [30].…”
