Many details of the behavior of the Ivory-billed Woodcreeper and other woodcreeper species remain poorly known (Vega-Rivera et al 2003). Woodcreepers are generally encountered singly, or in pairs, in multispecific or monospecific groups, showing aggressive behavior toward other conspecifics or other woodcreeper species.…”

“…It is distributed along the Pacific coast from southern Sonora to Chiapas, and in the Atlantic coastal lowlands from southern Tamaulipas south through the Yucatan Peninsula to Costa Rica in Central America (Howell and Webb 1995;AOU 1998). Relatively few studies have investigated the ecology and life history of this and other woodcreeper species (Chapman and Rosenberg 1991;Pierpont 1986;Puebla-Olivares 2001;Vega-Rivera et al 2003), partly owing to the difficulty of distinguishing the sex of individuals in the field. For this reason, we conducted the present analysis, which proved useful in determining the sex of live individuals of this species.…”
