Abstract: Worldwfde literature review esters, oral tablets of testosterone derivatives, and transdermal patches. For most patients, androgen replacement therapy with testosterone is a safe, effective treatment for testosterone deficiency.

“…Elevated concentrations of Hcy (Boushey et al, 1995;Ridker et al, 1999), C-reactive protein (CRP) (Ridker et al, 1998(Ridker et al, , 2000 and vascular adhesion molecules (Hwang et al, 1997;Ridker et al, 2000) such as soluble E-selectin (sEselectin), soluble vascular adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1) and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) have been associated with increased risk of CHD. Estrogen replacement therapy and the selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) raloxifene lower plasma Hcy (Walsh et al, 2000;Yildirir et al, 2002).…”

“…An estimated 10-20% of all cardiovascular disease could be eliminated by simply lowering elevated Hcy levels, and studies show that simple key vitamins, such as folate and B12, are quite capable of doing so. These studies show a clear correlations between vitamin status and Hcy levels and that a combination of folate, B6, and B12 can lower Hcy by 50% (61)(62)(63)55,(64)(65)(66)(67)(68).…”

“…3,4 Our data describing a direct positive relation between homocysteine and subsequent vascular events within the AFCAPSA/Tex-CAPS cohort are consistent with most but not all prior studies of homocysteine and vascular risk. [5][6][7][8][9][10][11]17 Particular strengths of the present analysis that we believe increase its validity and generalizability include our large sample size, the use of a validated commercial assay for homocysteine assessment, and clear end point definitions and complete cohort ascertainment.…”

“…In several epidemiological studies, elevated homocysteine levels have been associated with increased risk of first [5][6][7][8] as well as recurrent myocardial infarction. [9][10][11] Partly on the basis of these observations, homocysteine screening also has been advocated as a method to improve detection of high-risk patients.…”
