HonestChain: Consortium blockchain for protected data sharing in health information systems

Abstract: Healthcare innovations are increasingly becoming reliant on high variety and standards-compliant (e.g., HIPAA, common data model) distributed data sets that enable predictive analytics. Consequently, health information systems need to be developed using cooperation and distributed trust principles to allow protected data sharing between multiple domains or entities (e.g., health data service providers, hospitals and research labs). In this paper, we present a novel health information sharing system viz., Hones… Show more

“…For example, the work proposed in [ 93 ] proposed a blockchain-based secure framework to access and share the medical images in a transparent manner among the patients. A consortium blockchain-based system “HonestChain,” was also proposed in [ 101 ] that ensures auto-assurance and auto-auditability. Interoperability : Blockchain allows different organizations to share data easily and securely.…”

“…Finally, the research results are published on the blockchain for the benefit of doctors worldwide. A consortium blockchain-based system “HonestChain,” was proposed in [ 101 ] that ensures auto-assurance and auto-auditability. It is equipped to ensure distributed trust by calculating requester Reputation and Provider Reputation.…”

“…[24] examines data accountability and provenance tracing, emphasizing the advantages of consortium blockchain technologies in terms of automating these procedures and guaranteeing data integrity. The proposed architecture offers a decentralized, transparent, and secure alternative for data management, with implications for the government, banking, and healthcare industries that need to monitor data provenance and accountability [24]. In addition, the authors [24] discuss the difficulties associated with data management in smart grids and suggest a consortium blockchain as a decentralized, transparent, and safe platform.…”
