“…A total of 1863 articles were found after removing duplicates in the Mendeley software. Two special issues in Development and Psychopathology (Belsky, & van IJzendoorn, 2015; Shaw & Cicchetti, 2019) yielded four additional studies, resulting in a total of 1867 articles for the screening. The following inclusion criteria were applied to purposely limit the scope of the review to high‐quality science pertinent to the purpose of this review: (a) peer‐reviewed journal articles in English; (b) a focus on behavioral/psychosocial interventions that were family‐based or individual/school‐based with family components and were designed to improve parenting, children's and parents' psychosocial well‐being, and reduce behavioral problems; and (c) genetic moderation effects were examined and reported.…”

“…This "for better, for worse" pattern supports the differential susceptibility theory. Shaw et al (2019) created a polygenic sensitivity score using 1200 SNPs to examine whether intervention effects on children's conduct problems (CP) and antisocial behavior (AB) trajectories through ages 2-14 were moderated by genetic sensitivity. For children with higher polygenic sensitivity scores, those assigned to the intervention group were more likely to be persistently low in their CP and AB trajectories, whereas those assigned to the control group were more likely to be persistently high in their CP and AB trajectories.…”
