Many zoonotic viruses originated from bats. Notably, Rhinolophus bats have been identified as natural reservoirs for some viruses with global health implications, including severe acute respiratory syndrome–related coronaviruses (SARSr-CoVs) and swine acute diarrhea syndrome-related coronavirus (SADSr-CoVs).
