How continuing mortality affects recovery potential for prohibited sharks: The case of white sharks in South Africa

Abstract: It can be difficult to determine whether a prohibition to exploitation ensures effective conservation or recovery for species that remain exposed to fishing effort and other sources of mortality throughout their range.
