How Do Verified Emissions Announcements Affect the Comoves between Trading Behaviors and Carbon Prices? Evidence from EU ETS

Abstract: Verified emissions announcements are the most influential events in the European Union emissions trading scheme (EU ETS); they reveal demand information and have a significant impact on the carbon market. The extant literature tends to focus on examining the impacts of these verification events on the prices of carbon allowances, while scholars barely discuss how trading behaviors react to the announcements. Moreover, most of the studies are carried out from a macroeconomic perspective. This paper fills this g… Show more

“…Dutta (2018) used the GARCH-jump model to investigate the volatility of the EU-ETS prices and provide recommendations to investors and policymakers. Guo et al (2018) used the GARCH model to analyze the impact of the EU-ETS emission announcements in phases I and II on trading behavior and prices. The findings confirm the maturity of the EU-ETS in phase II.…”

“…Firstly, to the best of our knowledge, no attention has been paid on identifying the environmental impacts of sanitary ware production, as most articles focus only on ceramic tiles. Considering the huge market (Research and Markets, 2018), intensive energy and material consumption of the sanitary ware industry (Cerame-Unie, 2016;Cuviella-Suárez et al, 2018), and the rigorous environmental legislations such as carbon tax (Liu and Lu, 2015) or carbon markets (Guo et al, 2018b;Wang et al, 2019), the environmental impacts and economic costs of sanitary ware production are severely under-examined. Secondly, joint analysis of LCA and LCC has seldomly been applied on the sanitary ware production.…”

“…Green manufacturing and cleaner production [3] have become one prominent feature of sustainable development. Especially in the context of carbon trade and carbon tax [4,5], energy conservation and emissions reduction are definitely the key issues of various industrial processes, such as ceramic production [6], ironmaking [7], sintering [8], and power generation [9]; and the needle coke drying process should be no exception. Coal-based needle coke is a perfect material for the manufacturing of the ultra-high-power electrode used in the compact steelmaking process.…”
