How new seismic acquisition and processing technology is delivering high-resolution images

Abstract: The objective of seismic acquisition and imaging is to recover the true properties of the earth. Major obstacles to obtaining this ideal goal are:the bandwith of the emitted source signals, the spatial sampling of the seismic survey and spatial aliasing, the aperture of the recorded data, the ghost effects on the source and receiver sides, the external and internal noise andthe ambiguity (nullspace) of the inversion problem (Yilmaz, 1987).
