“…In most cases prospective employees face problems associated with nepotism and favoritism leading to unfair appointment of relatives in positions of power. Chidi and Okpala (2012) found that the application of recruitment and selection processes and procedures in the Public Service was problematic with numerous challenges ranging from noncompliance to policy, allegations of nepotism during recruitment and selection processes and inconsistency in the implementation of legislative frameworks and policies. The role of the parliament which serves as a legislative arm of government is to prevent corrupt practices within the public sector in Sierra Leone (Javombo, 2021) Despite government efforts to standardise the recruitment system, make it effective public service delivery and flush ghost workers, it is perceived that the recruitment process lacks equity and transparency, making it difficult to recruit the best qualified applicants for available jobs in the service.…”
