Ecotourism is a rapidly developing niche market within the tourism sector that minimizes the negative impacts on tourism environments and increases the benefits for the communities. Nevertheless, one can identify certain specific issues with eco-tourism concerning the violation of IPS: these issues can act as limitations to the development of sustainable eco-tourism. These are analyzed in this paper concerning a critical area namely eco-tourism and sustainable human resources. The research therefore employs a qualitative and quantitative treatment of case studies and survey results to examine how these and other IP issues affect eco-tourism business prospects including indigenous knowledge protection and branding rights. Besides, the research analyses the impact of sustainable human resource practices aimed at minimizing these challenges by encouraging innovation, law compliance, and ethical tourism. This study has established that, to ensure new sustainability in eco-tourism enterprises, IP management activities should be integrated with sustainable HR practices.
