Hybrids from silazane and allyl‐containing benzoxazine for low‐curing temperature and high‐flame retardance

Abstract: Silicon hybrid benzoxazine has good flame retardance, but generally these hybrid polymer' curing temperature is higher than 220°C, limiting its application in the field of electronics. In this study, under Nickel acetylacetonate catalyzed, a new hybrid benzoxazine was synthesized using the copolymerization of polysilazane and allyl containing benzoxazine. Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) studied the curing behavior of this hybrid benzoxazine. The result… Show more

“…The characteristic groups associated with Si are not observed, but they become visible when the content of PSZ increases to 8 wt% in Figure S6. As can be seen, absorption peaks for the SiCH 3 bond appear at 1390 and 1258 cm −1 , while the stretching vibration peak of the CH bond in the SiCH 3 bond is observed at 2960 cm −1 32,33 . Besides, the asymmetric bending of SiOC at around 439 cm −1 is attributed to the reaction between the phenolic hydroxyl group and the broken SiN long chain 34 .…”

“…As can be seen, absorption peaks for the Si CH 3 bond appear at 1390 and 1258 cm À1 , while the stretching vibration peak of the C H bond in the Si CH 3 bond is observed at 2960 cm À1 . 32,33 Besides, the asymmetric bending of Si O C at around 439 cm À1 is attributed to the reaction between the phenolic hydroxyl group and the broken Si N long chain. 34 The stretching vibrations of N H and O H exhibit strong, broad peaks in the range of 3700-3120 cm À1 .…”

“…In previous research, nickel acetylacetonate was applied as an effective catalyst to thermally cure polysilanes 25 and polysilazanes, 26 respectively. However, the powder of Ni(acac)2 was hardly resolved in polysilazane.…”

“…These catalysts can promote the cleavage of the CH 2 -O bond on the oxazine ring, shorten the curing temperature, and reduce the curing reaction time. According to the literature, phenols, alcohols, mercaptans, carboxylic acids, Lewis acids, various metal complexes, and iodized salts have been successfully used to lower the ROP temperature [ 34 , 35 ]. Zhao et al used pyrogallol as a catalyst for the ROP of BZ, reducing the exothermic peak temperature of BZ from 256 °C to 174 °C [ 27 ].…”
