A new X-by-wire system named Electronic Hydraulic Brake (EHB) System is designed in this paper, which can establish for smooth control of wheel cylinder hydraulic pressure. In this new EHB system, the electronic unit can supply flexible control, and at the same time, the hydraulic unit provides high power needed by the brake system. This brake system has high potential to add functional enhancements with proper modifications of software, such as ABS, VSC, TRC and ESP. This brake system is expected to become the core technology for further improving the vehicle stability.

Since theoretical guidance is lacking in the design and control of the integrated system of electromagnetic brake and frictional brake, this paper aims to solve this problem and explores the nonlinear coupling characteristics and dynamic characteristics of the integrated system of electromagnetic brake and frictional brake. This paper uses the power bond graph method to establish nonlinear coupling mathematical model of the integrated system of electromagnetic brake and frictional brake and conducts the contrastive analysis on the dynamic characteristics based on this mathematical model. Meanwhile, the accuracy of the nonlinear coupling mathematical model proposed above is verified on the hardware in the loop simulation platform, and nonlinear coupling characteristics of the integrated system are also analyzed through experiments.

Combined with the analysis on the traditional brake system, the topological structure of the EHB(Electro-Hydraulic Brake) system is summarized. Based on that, one EHB system with motor-reducer mechanism as active power supply is put forward. In this system, one decoupling cylinder is designed to decouple brake pedal and active power supply. The backup mode is also considered in case of motor failure. Selection and design of power supply is completed. Feasibility of this system is validated through simulation and experiment.
