Hydrothermal Synthesis, Characterization, and Visible Light‐Driven Photocatalytic Properties of Bi2WO6 Nanoplates

Abstract: In this research, the effects on reaction temperature and length of time on Bi2WO6nanoplates by hydrothermal synthesis on morphologies and photocatalytic properties were studied. The products obtained at different reaction temperature and reaction time were characterized by XRD, Raman, FTIR, SEM, and TEM techniques. The photocatalytic properties of the samples were measured by decomposing the rhodamine-B organic dye. XRD pattern was specified as pure orthorhombic well-crystallized Bi2WO6phase for the 180°C and… Show more

“…At 210 ∘ C, only some stunted characteristic peaks of Bi 2 WO 6 were found. This phenomenon might be because temperatures higher than 120 ∘ C were in favor of the growth of Bi 2 WO 6 and probably went against the growth of BiOBr [23]. The XRD results indicate that the crystal structures of BiOBr-Bi 2 WO 6 composites could be selectively synthesized by adjusting the hydrothermal reaction holding time and temperature, and the well-crystallized BiOBr-Bi 2 WO 6 composites could be synthesized with facile experimental conditions at 120 ∘ C for 6 h.…”

“…In the FT-IR spectra of 1 – 3 , between 500 and 1000 cm −1 , the characteristic peaks of W–O modes can be observed (Figure 7). The band at 820 cm −1 belongs to the stretching vibration of Bi–O, and the others below 750 cm −1 are assigned to the stretching and bridging stretching mode of W–O and W–O–W, respectively [25,28,50,54,67].…”

“…The weak band appearing at 433 cm −1 is assigned to the antisymmetric mode of WO 6 octahedral, while at 310 cm −1 , the translational mode of the simultaneous move of Bi 3+ and WO 6 6− can be found. The band at 300 cm −1 corresponds to the mode of the WO 2 terminal groups (Figure 1) [29,42,50,68,69].…”

“…9 The glass coated with AquaSun coating exhibits three peaks (at ca. 161, 311, and 799 cm − 1 ) attributable to Bi 2 WO 6 encapsulated in the ORMOSIL, 10 and two peaks (around 560 and 1095 cm − 1 ) due to the glass substrate.…”
