Hydrothermal synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of a new one-dimensional polymer [{Cu(4,4′- bipy)(CH3COO)2}·3H2O]n

Abstract: One new metal -organic coordination framework formulated as [{Cu(4,4 -bipy)(CH 3 COO) 2 }·3H 2 O] n (1) (where 4,4 -bipy = 4,4 -bipyridine) has been hydrothermally synthesised and characterised by elemental analysis, IR and electronic spectroscopy, variable temperature magnetic moment measurement and single crystal X-ray diffraction study. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that 1 is one dimensional polymeric compound in which acetate ligand shows both mono-and bidentate bonding mode, and 4,4 -bipy acts as … Show more

“…Metal malonates have been studied from a thermochemical perspective [18][19][20] and indeed, the enthalpy of formation of copper(II) malonate (along with the corresponding oxalate and succinate) has been measured by reaction calorimetry [21]. This article was followed by the study of Biswas et al [22] on the hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of a one-dimensional copper-containing polymeric compound and its characterization. Single crystal X-ray analysis of this compound revealed that acetate ligand shows both mono-and bidentate bonding modes, and 4,4 0 -bipyridine acts as bridging ligand which supports the formation of infinite chains.…”
