Hydrothermal synthesis of TiO2 anatase nanocrystals using hexaprismatic-shaped oxo-carboxylate complexes

Abstract: The molecular structural chemistry of titanium oxo-carboxylate complexes is critically reviewed with particular emphasis on the understanding of the various characterised molecular shapes. Among the four crucial parameters thought to have a structural influence on these shapes (nature of the OR alkoxy group, molar ratio C = O/Ti, stoichiometric ratio S = XCOOH/Ti and chemical nature of the carboxylic X moiety), it was concluded that the nature of R group, the C ratio and the steric hindrance of X were of minor… Show more

“…The peak at 1106 cm Ϫ1 indicates the Ti-O-C bond, which may be produced from the reaction between PCL-g-AA and the titanium-bonded isopropyl group. 23,33,35 An interesting trait associated with the titania phase in both hybrids was a peak at about 1622 cm Ϫ1 , assigned to Ti-O bending deformation.…”

“…TMAOH is a strong organic alkali and used in many inorganic syntheses [19][20][21][22], such as the highly oriented thin film of zeolite [19], acicular α-FeOOH particles [20], layered titanate [22], and so on, and TMAOH also plays the role of a structural template. In the case of TMAOH, the initially formed precipitate can be completely dissolved on strong stirring, as observed by the naked eye.…”

“…But the glycothermal method usually required butanediol as solvent and high reaction temperature (473-573 K). Hydrothermal synthesis represented an alternative way to provide a facile route to prepare uniform, unaggregated, well-crystalline titanium dioxide nanoparticles [14][15][16][17][18][19][20]. However, the preparation of silica-modified titanium dioxide through a hydrothermal method seems not to have been reported until now.…”
