“…The isomers of (2) differ only in the orientation of the methoxy and hydroxyl groups. The orientation of the methoxy and hydroxyl groups in isomer 2 of (2), with the lowest free energy, G , is the same as in the reported solid‐state crystal structure of (2) [93] . Applying the Boltzmann equation to the free energies of the isomers of (2), we obtain populations of 75 % and 22 % for isomers 1 and 2 of (2) respectively.…”

“…The orientation of the methoxy and hydroxyl groups in isomer 2 of (2), with the lowest free energy, G, is the same as in the reported solid-state crystal structure of (2). [93] Applying the Boltzmann equation to the free energies of the isomers of (2), we obtain populations of 75 % and 22 % for isomers 1 and 2 of (2) respectively. This suggests that both isomers should be present in a sample of (2).…”

“…In the presence of ALP, the phosphate group on this molecule is broken down, resulting in the insoluble enzyme product (2′-hydroxy chalcone derivative 142 ), which emits red fluorescence. 208 According to reports, hydroxychalcone dyes 148 act as pH and fluoride ion color indicators 209 (Fig. 6).…”

“…In addition to their medicinal applications, chalcones are versatile intermediates in heterocyclic synthesis [ 29 ]; in particular, hydroxy-substituted chalcones have several practical applications as color indicators for pH and fluoride ions [ 30 ] and for compounds with pH-modulated photoresponsive binding properties [ 31 ].…”
