Hyperons, deconfinement and the speed of sound in neutron stars
R. M. Aguirre
Abstract:The effects on the speed of sound in neutron stars due to the presence of hyperons and a phase transition to deconfined quark matter is investigated. For this purpose a composite description within the covariant field theory is used, it consists of different models for the hadronic and for the unbound quarks configurations. A phase transition with continuous and monotonous variation of the equation of state is assumed. The predictions obtained are contrasted with recent observational data on isolated neutron s… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
