Hypofractionated whole‐breast radiotherapy using a three‐dimensional conformal technique: Toxicity comparison in different breast sizes

Abstract: Objectives Patients with larger breast sizes have been considered to be contraindicated for hypofractionated radiation therapy. In the present retrospective study, we analyzed the dosimetric and clinical toxicity outcomes of patients with different breast sizes and treatment positions. We conclude that three‐dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D‐CRT) hypofractionated radiation therapy can be therapeutically applied regardless of the breast size and treatment position. The aim of this study is to report a comp… Show more

“…There was no correlation observed between the PTV size and the increase in the systematic or random errors of FB patients, which in agreement with the results of Kim et al [13]. However, we recommend increasing the imaging schedule for breast patients treated in FB to reduce the treatment delivery uncertainty.…”

“…Furthermore, the breast size may be considered another factor that affects the dose heterogeneity [12]. Conversely, another study reported that there is no correlation between breast size and skin reactions [13].…”
