Briefly noted

Abstract: Using the DOPPS database, a baseline alkaline phosphatase level slightly (<40%) or substantially ( ‡40%) above normal was associated with a 25-38% higher all cause and cardiovascular mortality (1). These results were after adjustment for 35 covariates including PTH, calcium, phosphate, hip fracture, and liver disease.
