“…Το Σχήμα 1.12 παρουσιάζει τη σύσταση των εκπομπών σωματιδίων ενός κινητήρα CATERPILLAR, σε χαρακτηριστικά σημεία λειτουργίας του πεδίου, κατά το τεστ 13 σημείων (Πηγή MILLER et al [13] Στην πρώτη κατηγορία οξειδωτικών παγίδων κατάσσονται η παγίδα από ίνες χάλυβα και καταλυτική επίστρωση με ευγενή μέταλλα (Σχήμα 1.13, PATTAS, KYRIAKIS, SAMARAS [4]) καθώς και η παγίδα από κεραμικές ίνες, τύπου "κεριού" (Σχήμα 1.14 κατά HARDENBERG et al [15]). Οι παγίδες από ίνες χάλυβα παρουσίασαν πολλά προβλήματα κατά τον προκαταρκτικό πειραματικό έλεγχο τους (PATTAS, KYRIAKIS, SAMARAS [4], PATTAS, KYRIAKIS, SAMARAS, AIDARINIS [14], WONG et al [16]), όπως προβλήματα "ξεφυσήματος" (blow-off), χαμηλού βαθμού απόδοσης, αλλά και αύξησης των θειικών ενώσεων στις σωματιδιακές εκπομπές.…”
